THE GROWN UP ROOM & BAR
Elevated above the buzz of Chester’s historic streets, the Grown Up Room and Grown Up Bar offer a beautifully versatile event experience. These adjoining spaces sit within the private first floor of our Grade II* listed Georgian townhouse, where heritage architecture meets contemporary style and effortless hospitality. Together, the Grown Up Room and Bar combine sophistication with personality, making them ideal for birthdays, corporate events, weddings, or any celebration where style and space matter. With flexible capacity and a bespoke approach from our expert team, your next event at Oddfellows will be nothing short of memorable.
THE PADDED CELL
The Padded Cell is a tucked-away booth area toward the back of the venue that’s ideal for close-knit gatherinsg. It seats up to 12 guests comfortably and features striking tall white padded seating that creates an intimate, cocoon-like feel while still keeping the energy of the bar and garden nearby. From this spot you have easy access to the enchanting Secret Garden, making it perfect for a blended indoor-outdoor experience during drinks, a celebratory meal, or a relaxed catch-up in a space that’s stylishly offbeat and characterful.
THE
TEAROOMS
The Tea Room is a delightful private dining and social space. With whimsical details inspired by Alice in Wonderland — like a tea party table suspended from the ceiling and large Georgian windows flooding the room with daylight — it’s an elegant but playful setting perfect for private afternoon tea, relaxed lunches, or pre‑race drinks and bites. The room comfortably accommodates up to 18 seated guests and brings a charming, sociable vibe to your race‑day experience, whether you’re gathering with friends for a refined tea service or a laid‑back celebration before heading to the course.
THE HUTS
In the beloved Secret Garden, you’ll find a collection of heated huts that bring a touch of snug charm to outdoor drinking and dining. These semi-private, cosy structures are scattered around the walled garden, each designed to offer shelter and warmth with heaters and comfy seating. The huts are ideal for small groups (often up to about 6 people per hut), creating intimate spaces for conversation and relaxation while still being part of the vibrant garden atmosphere. They’re a standout feature of the Secret Garden, making outdoor gatherings feel extra special and comfortable all year round.

MONKEY
HUT
The Monkey Hut is one of the outdoor, semi-private huts nestled in the Secret Garden. While the garden’s huts are designed to offer shelter, warmth, and comfort year-round with outdoor heating and snug seating, the Monkey Hut in particular is tailored for small groups, accommodating up to 8 guests. It’s ideal for an intimate catch-up with friends, a laid-back celebration, or cocktails in a sheltered, convivial nook that still lets you soak up the garden’s atmosphere.

L-SHAPE
The L-Shape in the Secret Garden is a larger, open-air seating configuration designed for groups and social gatherings, comfortably accommodating around 30 guests. It’s part of the garden’s versatile layout of seating zones — ideal for relaxed drinks, casual meals, or a garden party atmosphere that blends shelter with alfresco charm. This space takes advantage of the Secret Garden’s leafy, atmospheric setting and can be paired with heaters and outdoor furnishings to keep guests comfortable throughout the seasons.
